|Restaurant for youth now open|
Looking around our area there are plenty of new construction and some interesting commercial real estate sales. Before we launch into what is happening the biggest news to the under-20 crowd is Chuck E. Cheese is now open on Pecanland Mall Drive. So parents and grandparents, grab the kids and treat them to something new and different for our area.
The new construction you see on Forsythe Avenue next to Eskamoe's is a new Eye Clinic for Dr. Michael Haynes. He is relocating his office from N. 3rd Street, Monroe.
The new Eye Clinic will open in the Fall, 2011. If you have traveled the Garrett Road Exit to I-20 and noticed the land being cleared in front of Sam's Club the owners are developing two one-acre tracts for sale. No word yet on what may be developed there but I predict with the high traffic count, the widening of the Garrett Road overpass and the proximity to I-20 they will find a strong interest for future development.
The former car wash on Louisville Avenue at the corner of Betin Street next to Burney's Furniture and across from the Eastgate Shopping Center has been purchased by Lynn and Jeffrey Moore. They will construct a new Retail Center with eight 1,250-sf retail spaces. The center will feature an upscale stone fašade. The owners have previously developed successful retail centers on Cypress St. in West Monroe.
