Going gold in Sterlington: Town prepares to celebrate its 50th anniversary

Katy Balsamo remembers when Sterlington was just a one road town with only a few attractions.

Now, as the town of Sterlington prepares to celebrate its 50th year of existence, there's more of a city atmosphere, but it still maintains those small community qualities, Balsamo said.

Balsamo has lived in Sterlington her entire life and she's looking forward to the 50th anniversary celebration, which will be held Oct. 1 at Sterlington Park.

For her, it's a chance to showcase to others what Sterlington is all about, and give its residences an opportunity for a day-long family outing.
