|Hoffmann's District 15 extends westward|
Editor's Note: This is the first in a series of articles showcasing the changes in state legislative district lines as this fall's legislative elections near. The Legislature tackled redistricting legislative districts in a special legislative session earlier this year. Congressional and legislative district lines were redrawn to reflect population changes reflected in the 2010 Census.

The biggest changes the Legislature made to House District 15 during the special legislative session on redistricting involved adding much of the rural areas of western Ouachita Parish to what has been traditionally known as a West Monroe-based district.
Rep. Frank Hoffmann, R-West Monroe, currently represents District 15. He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2007. Hoffmann will seek a second term in the House in the fall elections. Thus far, no one has announced to oppose him.
Hoffmann, a former educator, said the issue of redrawing state legislative district lines was one of the bigger challenges he's been a part of since he was first elected four years ago.
"It was frustrating in many ways because it's such a big picture thing, and from an individual standpoint you really had a fairly minimal amount of influence," Hoffmann said. "With my particular district, they came to us with certain recommendations."
