Parish notches class 5 fire rating again

The Ouachita Parish Fire Department is expected to maintain its class 5 fire rating, according to preliminary indications from the Property Insurance Association of Louisiana.

The department's class rating determines how much money parish property owners pay for homeowner's insurance. The highest rating, or best rating, is a class 1.

According to Chief Pat Hemphill, the parish fire department's score from this year's rating by the Property Insurance Association of Louisiana was 52.99.

In order to obtain a class 4 rating, the fire department would need to improve upon that score by seven points.
