Jones, Kostelka collaborate on Caylee Anthony law

Sen. Bob Kostelka doesn't want what happened to 2-year-old Caylee Anthony to ever happen in Louisiana, which is why he plans to pre-file legislation that would make it a felony offense for failing to report a missing child.

Late last week, staff at the 4th Judicial District Court completed drafting the language of the proposed bill, which Kostelka, R-Monroe, plans to introduce during the 2012 regular session if he's re-elected in the fall elections.

Casey Anthony, 25, the mother of Caylee Anthony, was acquitted last week of 1st degree murder and other charges over her daughter's death. She was convicted, though, of lying to police and will be released from prison July 17, three years after being jailed for lying to Florida detectives about the disappearance of her daughter. She originally claimed her daughter had been kidnapped by a babysitter.

Caylee Anthony was missing for roughly a month before Casey Anthony notified authorities about her daughter's disappearance.
