Campaigns face strict sign ordinance

As candidates for the fall elections roll out their campaign signs across Ouachita Parish, an ordinance the Ouachita Parish Police Jury approved last year could alter the landscape, according to Police Juror Pat Moore.

The ordinance in question regulates displaying small signs along parish right-of-ways.
The Ouachita Parish Public Works Department will enforce the small sign ordinance, which prohibits the placement of temporary signs along parish right-of-ways and on utility poles, according to Moore.

The Police Jury already has received complaints of political signs placed illegally along parish right-of-ways.
