Rebel basketball makes strides

It has been an eventful summer for the West Monroe High School boys basketball team.
The Rebels are coming off a disappointing first season under head coach Michael Hunter and really could not wait to get back in the gym and improve their chances for success in 2011.

The Rebels went 8-20 last season and missed the Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class 5A playoffs for first time in almost 20 years.

Things certainly look more promising after a summer full of local summer league games.
The Rebels went 20-4 this summer and recently advanced to the championship game of the Ruston High School tournament where they lost to defending district champion Pineville High School.
