Children's parade to roll again

Fred Huenefeld never dreamed the Fourth of July children's parade long Monroe's prestigious Pargoud Boulevard would span 20-plus years and draw more than 1,000 people to a north Monroe neighborhood each year.

When he took charge of the annual parade, Huenefeld had a pickup truck loaded with watermelons and about 50 followers. Last year, about 1,500 people brought their children to the parade to celebrate July 4th.

For the past several years, the annual parade has drawn more than 1,000 people, the majority of them children.
