Revenues revised to reflect loss of stimulus funding

Expenditures are projected to exceed revenues by $2.1 million in the Ouachita Parish school system's general fund after the School Board revised its current fiscal year budget.

The School Board adopted a $211.9 operating budget for the 2010-2011 fiscal year in September 2010. It included an anticipated deficit of $1.66 million in the general fund. That deficit was increased to $2.1 million to reflect recently projected changes in revenues and expenditures.

The parish school system's fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30 of each year. By law, the School Board must adopt a new fiscal year budget by Sept. 15 of each year.
