Local team wins state
Another area youth baseball team added championship hardware recently as the Gorilla Axle baseball team won the USSSA 10-year-old Louisiana State Championship. The tournament was held in Carencro.
Gorilla Axle went a perfect 6-0 in the state tournament and made their state championship official with a 16-4 win over the Natchitoches Thunder during the title game.
While Natchitoches got some runs across, Gorilla Axle kept the pressure on with their own big innings at the plate.
