Lawmakers satisfied with budget

Local legislators say they're pleased with the $25 billion budget the Legislature sent to Gov. Bobby Jindal Tuesday, but all agreed that balancing the budget this year was no easy task.
Sen. Mike Walsworth said the Legislature was forced to do what a majority of families in the country are doing during the economic downturn - reduce spending.

"What we tried to do was just make ends meet just like what any family is doing right now," said Walsworth, R-West Monroe.

"We used some one-time dollars to fix some one-time expenses, so hopefully that will work out," he said.
