Former Monroe tax director Patrick Onyemechara was sentenced this week in 4th District Court to 10 years of hard labor for 10 counts of felony theft related to his employment with the city of Monroe.

Onyemechara also was ordered to pay more than $120,000 in restitution.

Onyemechara in March pled guilty to 10 counts of felony theft related to his employment with the city of Monroe where he was accused of stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars.
