City anticipates deficit spending The West Monroe Board of Aldermen signed off on the city's $18.1 million budget for the 2011-2012 fiscal year at the board's regular meeting Tuesday night.
The 2011-2012 fiscal year begins July 1.
While the city is projected to post a deficit of $417,871 at the end of the fiscal year, West Monroe Mayor Dave Norris believes the city will break-even when the new fiscal year comes to a close June 30, 2012.
"That's a really conservative estimate," Norris said, referring to the projected deficit. "I really think it will be a break-even budget because we're seeing some pretty good growth," Norris continued.
