School system acts to replace aging buses

The Ouachita Parish School Board agreed Tuesday to spend $700,000 to buy 10 new school buses to replace older buses.

The School Board acted on the matter at its regular meeting where it also named The Ouachita Citizen the Official Journal for Ouachita Parish Schools for the 2011-2012 fiscal year.

Skeeter Boyd, transportation supervisor for the school system, said the parish school system typically replaced buses that had been in rotation for at least 25 years.
