Liner remembered as 'favorite' teacher

West Monroe High School lost one of its most beloved teachers last week when James Liner died while on a canoeing trip in Arkansas.

Liner, 68, of West Monroe was an art teacher at West Monroe High School for a number of years.

Ouachita Parish Schools Superintendent Dr. Bob Webber said Liner would be missed by not only the students and faculty at West Monroe High School, but the entire West Monroe community.

"This was just a tragic event," Webber said. "He was an outstanding teacher and a good friend."
