Rodeo bible camp scheduled at Ike Wagon Wheel Ministries' annual Rodeo Bible Camp at Ike Hamilton Expo Center is set for July 24-27 with a host of activities planned for participating youth.
Mary Hattaway with Wagon Wheel Ministries said the group was looking to expand on last year's successful camp.
Preparations are underway for this year's event, but the group still needs volunteers, team leaders, sponsors, donations and campers, Hattaway said.
Wagon Wheel Ministries is a non-for-profit organization "dedicated to the wholesome development and activities for children and families."
Each year, the group hosts its Rodeo Bible Camp at Ike Hamilton Expo Center in West Monroe to offer children a chance to learn horse riding techniques.
"This educational and motivational camp is conducted in a family oriented manner, and supports and nurtures youth from all walks of life," Hattaway said.
She expects about 150 children will participate in this year's camp. She said last year's camp was extremely successful and the group hopes this year's event will have the same success.
"The goal is to minister to the children to help them know and grow closer to Christ while learning the sport of rodeo," Hattaway said. "The real success of last year's camp was revealed when 15 children were baptized and six others' parents chose for them to be baptized at their church."
