Audition session planned The West Monroe Branch of Ouachita Parish Libraries will conduct auditions for the play, "Wind of a Thousand Tales" 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, June 7, at the West Monroe Library branch, 315 Cypress St.
The play's main character is a young girl named Kimberly-Kay, who doesn't believe in make-believe — she's a no-nonsense kid, too grown up to listen to made-up stories. When her mother comes to tuck her in and tell her a bedtime story, Kimberly-Kay scoffs, turns over, and goes to sleep. That's when the "Wind of a Thousand Tales," (played by an ensemble of eight to 34 or more actors) decides it's time to blow in and take charge. Breezes take Kimberly-Kay to Mexico for a tale about Carlos, a handsome young man who has eyes for beautiful young women only, and Corazòn, who loves him but realizes she is far too unattractive ever to win his love. The Breezes also show Kimberly-Kay a happy/sad Far Eastern folk tale that is full of adventure, and a funny, funny story that takes place in Central Europe.
Rehearsals will be held at the West Monroe Branch in the Arlan Rawls Room on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 10 a.m. til 2 p.m. during June and the first of July. Performances will be at held at selected library branches in Ouachita Parish the week of July 11-15. The play will be directed by Cathy Airhart Webb with fight choreography provided by Hardy Bates of Grambling University. |
