OPPJ cuts $1.2M from OCC budget The Ouachita Parish Police Jury trimmed Ouachita Correctional Center's budget by $1.2 million Monday to help shore up finances at the parish prison.
Action was taken during the Police Jury's regular meeting.
Police Juror Charles Jackson said the Police Jury's cuts were three fold.
"About one-third of the cuts bank on the Sheriff's Office not filling unfilled positions," Jackson said. "About one-third of it is trimming non-personnel operational costs, and one-third of it is actual dollar reductions in reimbursements for staffing to the Sheriff's Office." .....For the full story, subscribe to the The Ouachita Citizen's NEW E-Edition! |
