City agrees to consolidated tax proposal

The city of West Monroe will participate in a proposal to consolidate billing and collection of ad valorem property taxes within Ouachita Parish.

The West Monroe Board of Aldermen signed off on the project last week during its regular meeting.

According to Scott Olvey, chief accountant with the city of West Monroe, representatives with the cities of Monroe and West Monroe, the towns of Richwood and Sterlington, and Ouachita Parish Police Jury will meet next month to go over details of the consolidated billing proposal.
Sterlington and West Monroe already have agreed to the proposal, while the other taxing authorities have yet to consider it.
