Monroe places in cleanest city contest

The city of Monroe recently placed third in its level of competition of the 2011 Louisiana Garden Club Federation's Cleanest City Contest.

Monroe won first place in District 5 at the regional level, and placed third in category one at the state level.

Others cities competing in this category were Alexandria, Kenner, and Lake Charles. The 2011 judges were Yvette Hebert, president elect (Alexandria), Barbara Coates (Epps), and Kathy Bedenbaugh (Ponchatoula).
