Spring brings optimism for Rebels

The West Monroe Rebels have experienced what must seem like an eternity to players and coaches between their Class 5A state championship game loss to Acadiana and the beginning of spring practice last week.

Once that time arrived, however, the Rebels did what they do - they went to work.
With several key positions open this spring such as quarterback and running back, and only 10 practices to sort things out, the Rebels have been busy. However, injuries to key starters have slowed some of the progress.

"We have had some injuries that have hindered us," West Monroe head coach Don Shows said. "The young players have gotten a lot of reps and gotten better."
