Sales tax collections improve Sales tax collections for Ouachita Parish Schools picked up recently, and school officials hope it's a sign of an improving economy.
School Board business manager Richard Garrett said this time of year school system employees are interested in their 13th pay check, which the School Board distributes in June. The School Board uses sales tax collections to fund its 13th and 14th checks to all school system employees.
