Bond sale OK'd for project to connect buildings

The Monroe City Council agreed to issue up to $10 million in Sales Tax Increment Revenue Bonds for a road project to connect Lowe's with the former State Farm office building off Interstate 20.

With the City Council's approval, the matter now moves to the state Bond Commission for consideration.

According to city financial consultant Nnamdi Thompson, the city expects to generate up to $6 million from the bond sale for the I-20 Economic Development District to tackle the road project.
