Police jurors get ear full over drainage

Flooding concerns dominated the Ouachita Parish Police Jury's meeting Monday as numerous residents pleaded with police jurors for assistance after last weeks rain pushed water into their homes.

For almost two hours Monday, police jurors heard complaints about drainage issues. The majority of residents who complained to the Police Jury live in southern Ouachita Parish.
Gertrude Scott, who lives in the Pine Bayou subdivision, told police jurors her neighborhood has a major flooding problem as drainage ditches have not been cleaned out for a number of years.

Last week, 15 homes in her neighborhood flooded.

Scott's home has flooded four times in recent years.
