RV park owners say Delta causes drainage problems

Louisiana Delta Community College could be affecting drainage for nearby residents and businesses, and the Ouachita Parish Police Jury has been asked to look into the matter.

During Monday's regular Police Jury meeting, Monroe attorney Ben Marshall IV, representing the owners of Ouachita RV Park, told police jurors the park's business had suffered due to flooding problems.

Owned by Michael and Lloyd Sivils, Ouachita RV Park has been in business since 1968. According to the owners, their business never flooded until after Louisiana Delta Community College was built last year.

"There's also several residents who have been out there for many, many years," Marshall said. "The folks who have been out there the longest said they have never seen anything like this."
