Parish students to learn importance of Sparta

The Ouachita Parish School Board agreed to spend $5,000 for a representative with the Sparta Ground Water Commission to educate students about water conservation next school year.

With approval by the School Board, Lindsay Gouedy, education coordinator with the Sparta Ground Water Commission, will visit with parish school system students to teach them about matters affecting the local drinking water supply and other water conservation issues.

"We have a water problem in this nation, in this state, in this region and also in this parish," Gouedy said. "As an education coordinator, it is my job to look at every venue about water concerns."
