Body of work centers around investigation of 1964 murder in Concordia Parish.

Stanley Nelson, editor of the Concordia Sentinel, was named the first recipient of the LSU Manship School of Mass Communication's Courage and Justice Award.

The Concordia Sentinel in Ferriday is a sister newspaper of The Franklin Sun and The Ouachita Citizen. The newspapers are owned and operated by the Hanna family.

Nelson was presented the award, which carried a $1,000 prize, April 8, at the school's annual Board of Visitor banquet.
