posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Funeral services were held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, at Bill Ruple Stadium, on Neville High School's campus. Mulhearn Funeral Home of Monroe handled arrangements.

A staple of high school football in Ouachita Parish for more than 40 years, Charlie Brown was known the state over for being one of the best to ever put on a headset.

Brown, 82, passed away at his home Monday.

Brown led Neville to three state championships in football. Brown was the head football coach at Neville for 30 seasons, starting in 1962. Brown compiled a 262-66-5 record at Neville and retired in 1992 following a third state runner-up finish in the Louisiana Superdome. Brown had the sixth most wins of any coach in Louisiana High School Athletic Association history when he retired.

Funeral services, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral home in Monroe, will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Bill Ruple Stadium on the campus of Neville High School.

More details will be in this week's edition of The Ouachita Citizen.
