Toney shelves work-release plans at Ridgedale

Ouachita Parish Sheriff Royce Toney has discarded plans to turn the former Ridgedale Academy into a complex to house the Sheriff's Office's patrol division and a number of work-release inmates.

The announcement was made Tuesday when the Sheriff's Office issued a news release to the media declaring plans to sell the former Ridgedale Academy property, located in West Monroe off Whites Ferry Road.

The Sheriff's Office last year purchased the former private school and the 14 acres it sits on for roughly $190,000.
