Vitter suggests politics delaying Next Autoworks While there's no proof Next Autowork's $321-million loan application with the Department of Energy has been stalled by party politics, U.S. Sen. David Vitter said that could be a possibility.
Vitter made that remark Tuesday during a luncheon with the local business community. The event was held at the Monroe Civic Center and sponsored by the Monroe Chamber of Commerce.
"It's an obvious concern, particularly with all this delay," said Vitter. "I have no proof that's the case. I have no proof what's going on with the Department of Energy because they've been so secretive about it. They don't communicate their thought process. I understand they have a process to grade proposals and to deal with proposals.
