South Ouachita resident complains about dogs

Constant dog problems in neighborhoods in southern Ouachita Parish prompted one resident to take action.

Jimmy Clay, who lives in the Lincoln Park subdivision, lobbied the Ouachita Parish Police Jury Monday to take more steps to ensure dogs do not roam the streets unsupervised.

"I believe that the lack of control conditions with dogs will get worse if something is not done to reverse the current trend," Clay said. "Dogs are running unsupervised in our neighborhoods. I thought we were dealing with the problem of stray animals, but most of the dogs I see running the street actually have an owner. So, there is a non-compliance of the existing regulations by the animals' owners."
