Former Monroe tax director Patrick Onyemechara plead guilty Monday to 10 counts of felony theft related to his employment with the city of Monroe.

Onyemechara was accused of stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Formal sentencing was scheduled for June 13.

Onyemechara faces up to 10 years of hard labor and a fine of $3,000, or both, on each count.
Restitution was set at $124,000, which was the amount documented by the Louisiana Legislative Auditor's office during its two-year audit of Monroe's tax department.
