The Ouachita Parish Police Jury delayed spending some $56,000 for new carpet and painting the offices of 4th Judicial District Court judges due to the parish's ongoing budgetary restraints.

Money for the proposed expenditure must come from the Police Jury's general fund, which has a projected $840,000 deficit for the 2011 fiscal year.

Parish treasurer Brad Cammack said carpet in the Ouachita Parish Courthouse where 4th Judicial District Court is located is still in useable condition.
