The February meeting of the Northeast La. Genealogical & Historical Society was held Feb. 13, in the Louis Locke room of the main library on Stubbs Avenue in Monroe.

Larry Foreman from the special collections department of the library was guest speaker. In recognition of Black History Month, he brought a program about the "early influence of the African American business people in Monroe and Ouachita Parish." He said the special collections room is a "treasure trove" of information and files on important people of the area and is open to the public.
