At about 2:45 pm today the Mississippi River Bridge was closed after being struck by a barge. DOTD officials are en-route to inspect the bridge for damage. Both eastbound and westbound lanes are being diverted to US 65 north to Greenville and US 65 south to Natchez, Miss.

Louisiana State Police Troopers are assisting local authorities and the DOTD with traffic management. The bridge will remain closed until the bridge has been inspected and cleared by DOTD officials.
