Alexander presses Energy about Next Autoworks loan

U.S. Rep. Rodney Alexander leaned on the secretary of the U.S. Department of Energy Tuesday to move on a $321-million loan application for Next Autoworks.

Alexander, R-Quitman, discussed the application with Secretary of Energy Steven Chu at a hearing of the Energy and Water Subcommittee of the House Appropriations Committee.

Alexander's office issued a news release Tuesday morning outlining Alexander's remarks at the subcommittee meeting.

In late January, DOE unveiled its final environmental assessment on Next Autoworks' proposed car manufacturing operation at the former Guide Plant in eastern Ouachita Parish.
