SAR meeting honors Washington birthday The Benjamin Tennille Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution hosted a well attended George Washington Birthday dinner with members and their families at the Bayou Desiard Country Club on Feb. 22, 2011.
The meeting was called to order by President Fred Huenefeld dressed in George Washington attire who introduced the James Huey West Monroe S.A.R. chapter Revolutionary attired Color Guard who marched in, bearing flags and muskets. Chaplin Doug Spencer offered a prayer followed by Treasurer Don Hereford leading the guests in the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States of America and the S. A. R. pledge to protect our country from all foes foreign and domestic.
Special guests included Hamilton Winters, winner of the S. A. R. Eagle Scout Award, his father Judge Stephens Winters and the President of the recently formed James Huey S. A. R.
