WM ordinance corrects audit finding

To remedy a recent audit finding, the West Monroe Board of Aldermen approved a change to the city's ordinance regarding late payment of utility bills.

Action was taken Tuesday during the board's regular meeting.

According to the most recent audit of West Monroe's finances, a
uditors noted utility "accounts receivable had numerous accounts that were old and no longer collectible because the customer had moved and not notified the city. This resulted in substantial penalties accruing on these accounts causing an overstatement of accounts receivable."
