Schools await SACS report

While a team from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools recently recommended Ouachita Parish Schools for reaccreditation, the parish school system won't receive a full report on its reaccreditation status until sometime next month.

According to SACS, an accreditation agency for 11 states in the South, accreditation is a "voluntary method of quality assurance developed more than 100 years ago by American universities and secondary schools, and designed primarily to distinguish schools adhering to a set of educational standards."

Accreditation is offered for a five-year period.
