Refuge hosts second annual event To celebrate the 108th anniversary of the National Wildlife Refuge System, Black Bayou Lake refuge is hosting its second annual trails event, "Walk Where the Wildlife Walks," on March 12 from 1-4 p.m.
Family oriented activities will include guided nature walks, GPS mystery cache challenge, Black Bayou Lake Scavenger Hunt (find only), discovery packs with activity sheet and simply walking or hiking our numerous trails.
Canoes will be available free during the event for those who would prefer paddling to walking. The first full-color trail brochure for Black Bayou Lake National Wildlife Refuge has just printed and will be available for "Walk Where the Wildlife Walks." It has a map of all six trails and access points, brief descriptions of each trail with pictures, and a trail etiquette section. Trails are open daylight hours every day of the year.
Visitor Center and live exhibits will be open. The event is free. For more information, contact Gay Brantley at 387-1114. |
