Moore, Reddix urge jury to clean up parish Years after a prominent economic development consultant warned Ouachita Parish it needed to clean up its act, litter is still a problem, according to two local officials.
During Tuesday's regular Police Jury meeting, Police Juror Dr. Ollibeth Reddix pleaded with the Police Jury to help Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Cpl. Wayne Heckford to develop a solution to remedy the parish's trashy image. Heckford serves as Ouachita Parish's code enforcement officer.
In 2007, the Ouachita Parish Police Jury, the cities of Monroe and West Monroe, the then-Ouachita Economic Development Corporation and the Northeast Louisiana Economic Alliance paid $80,000 to hire Competitive Strategies Group to conduct a marketing study for the region.
