Senate districts to shift State Sen. Bob Kostelka traveled to Baton Rouge Wednesday to begin meeting with legislative committee members about redrawing state and congressional district lines.
Kostelka, R-Monroe, is chairman of the Senate and Governmental Affairs Committee, which, along with the House and Governmental Affairs Committee, is tasked with redrawing state and congressional district lines in light of shifts in population revealed by the 2010 Census. The 2010 Census showed Kostelka's District 35 grew slightly over the past decade, adding 3,300 more residents since the 2000 Census was taken.
Ouachita Parish's two other Senate districts decreased in population since the 2000 Census. Sen. Mike Walsworth, R-West Monroe, had his district decrease by approximately 6,152 over the past decade. .....For the full story, subscribe to the The Ouachita Citizen's NEW E-Edition! |
