Officials eye new date to open Sterlington school

Officials with Ouachita Parish Schools say students will be moved into the new Sterlington Elementary School after state testing in April.

That's according to Kenneth Slusher, who serves as safety and construction coordinator for Ouachita Parish Schools.

Originally, the parish school system had hoped to have teachers move into the new school by late February. At one point, parish school officials wanted the new Sterlington Elementary School ready for students by the start of the second semester when they returned from Christmas break.
