Rebels, Lions in district battle

The West Monroe Rebels and Ouachita Lions will end their regular seasons at Rebel Gymnasium on Friday as the long-time rivals meet for the final time in 2011 for District 2-5A bragging rights.

The game could possibly mark the final game of the season for both teams with Ouachita still having an outside shot at receiving a bid to the Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class 5A playoffs.

The Lions are currently No. 34 in the power rankings with West Monroe coming in at No. 39 entering this week. Ouachita lost to Natchitoches Central on Tuesday, 78-60, while WMHS lost to Pineville, 83-58. The top 32 teams in each classification qualify for the playoffs.
The two teams are meeting for the second time this season.
