The cities of Monroe and West Monroe lost population over the past 10 years while the town of Sterlington's population increased, according to 2010 Census data.

Meanwhile, the African-American population grew throughout Ouachita Parish as well as in Monroe, West Monroe and Sterlington, the 2010 Census reported.

The second round of the 2010 Census data was released late last week. It outlined the total population in counties, parishes, towns, villages, and municipalities across the country and the racial make-up of each of them.
