In an effort to speed up the processing of misdemeanor cases, the 4th Judicial District Court implemented a new traffic court.

Judge Wendell Manning presided over the first session of traffic court Wednesday, Feb. 2. Traffic court will handle only traffic citations, which 4th Judicial District Court officials say will allow for more court time to prosecute more serious misdemeanors such as domestic violence, DWIs and drug cases.

Judges Wilson Rambo, Robert Johnson, Daniel Ellender and Manning will rotate each week and preside over traffic court at the Ouachita Parish Courthouse.
