Superintendent explains tax propositions

Eastern Ouachita Parish voters on April 30 will decide on several tax measures for Ouachita Parish Schools.

One of those tax measures would provide the school system with roughly $19 million for a number of improvements at parish schools in eastern Ouachita.

If approved by voters in April, the parish school system would have the authority to sell $19.3 million in additional general obligation bonds without any increase in the existing millage rate.
"It's also a renewal and not an increase," said Ouachita Parish Schools Superintendent Dr. Bob Webber.
