NRA course helps 'bring the street to the range'

Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office reserve deputy Bobby Lawrence didn't want to miss the week-long National Rifle Association's handgun instructor school, so he took off a week from work just to experience it.

Two of NRA's top handgun instructors spent this week teaching local law enforcement officers as well as lawmen from around the country at the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office's Rifle and Archery training facility in western Ouachita Parish.

Lawrence spent 31 years with the West Monroe Police Department, and he recently moved over to the Sheriff's Office.
