To combat impaired driving in our area, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers will team up with other law enforcement agencies to conduct a sobriety checkpoint this weekend.  

On Friday, Jan. 28, a sobriety checkpoint will be conducted in the West Monroe city limits from about 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. Troop F Troopers will partner with officers from the West Monroe and Monroe Police Departments to enforce and deter impaired driving offenses.

Checkpoints are designed to remove impaired drivers from the roads before they can injure themselves or others, but to also act as a deterrent to impaired driving. If people recognize the increased probability of checkpoints, they are less likely to drive impaired.
