Voters to decide parish school tax measures

The Ouachita Parish School Board has called an April 30 special election to allow voters to entertain a number of tax issues.

Grant Schlueter of the law firm Foley and Judell of New Orleans said two of the tax issues involve the eastern Ouachita Parish school district.

Eastern Ouachita Parish voters in 2008 approved a property tax to generate $30 million for the construction of the new Richwood Middle and Sterlington Elementary schools and renovations at existing eastern Ouachita schools.
